Working with track templates

You can create an unlimited number of track templates for quickly recalling your most often used track settings including the following:

Track type (MIDI or Audio)

Mute, Solo and Record state

Hardware input

Output destination

Bus send settings

Track parameters

Track icons

Effects and their settings

Instrument and Bank/Patch

Track name

Patch points

To create a track template

1.	Select the track or tracks you want to save as a preset.

2.	Do one of the following:

Select File > Export > Track Template from the main menu.

Right-click in the Tracks pane and select Save as Track Template.

The Save As dialog box appears.

Note: The Save as Track Template context menu is only available on tracks, not on folders. If you want to save a track template with folders, you must right-click on one of the tracks within the folder. A track template cannot contain empty folders.

3.	Enter a name for the template and click Save.

Track templates use the file extension .cwx.

To insert a track or tracks from a template

Do one of the following:

Select Insert > Track Template to open the Import Track Template dialog box, then select the desired track template.

Right-click in the Tracks pane and select Insert From Track Template > [track template name] or select More Track Templates.

Double-click a track template in the Media Browser.

This inserts tracks that are exactly like the template.

To replace a track with a track template

You can apply settings from a track template to an existing track, without affecting the existing track’s clip data or track automation. To do so, do one of the following:

Right-click in the Tracks pane and select Replace From Track Template > [track template name] or select More Track Templates on the context menu.

Drag a track template from the Media Browser onto the track you want to replace.
