Adjusting crossfades

When splitting clips as a result of comping, Sonar automatically adds a short crossfade between abutting takes. In order to create a crossfade, clip boundaries must occur at the exact same position on the time line. You can manually adjust the duration of each crossfade by dragging the crossfade up/down in a Take lane.

To adjust a crossfade duration across all lanes

To adjust a crossfade duration across all lanes, hold down the CTRL key and position the mouse pointer near the bottom where two clips abut. When the mouse pointer looks like , drag up or down to increase or decrease the crossfade duration.

To adjust a crossfade duration in a single lane

To adjust a crossfade duration in a single lane, hold down CTRL+ALT and position the mouse pointer near the bottom where two clips abut. When the mouse pointer looks like , drag up or down to increase or decrease the crossfade duration.

To move a crossfade position across all lanes

To move a crossfade position across all lanes, position the mouse pointer near the bottom where two clips abut. When the mouse pointer looks like , drag left or right to move the crossfade position.

 

Note: To move the crossfade position on a Comp track (lanes collapsed), hod down the SHIFT key and drag the crossfade left or right.

To move a crossfade position in a single lane

To move a crossfade position in a single lane, hold down the ALT key and position the mouse pointer near the bottom where two clips abut. When the mouse pointer looks like , drag left or right to move the crossfade position.

To specify the default auto crossfade duration

1.	Go to Edit > Preferences > Customization - Editing.

2.	Under Clips, specify the Auto Crossfade Comps (0-25ms) value.

To change the fade type on crossfaded clips in Take lanes

To change the fade type (Linear, Slow Curve, or Fast Curve) for clips in Take lanes, right-click the top part of a clip fade to show the curve type pop-up menu.
