R-MIX SONAR Edition (Producer only) ► Using R-MIX SONAR Edition

1.
In SONAR’s Browser, click the PlugIns tab to access the Plug-in Browser.

Click the Audio FX button .
3.
Drag R-MIX SONAR Edition into the FX bin of the desired track/bus.

In SONAR’s Browser, click the PlugIns tab to access the Plug-in Browser.

Click the Audio FX button .
3.
Drag R-MIX SONAR Edition to the desired clip in the Clips pane.

Click SONAR’s Play button .
2.
Lower the INSIDE LEVEL fader.
Tip: In order to find the sound that you want to remove, it is helpful to listen to the playback audio while you pay attention to the stereo position (left or right) and the pitch (high notes or low notes) of that sound.
Note: The sound will not be removed appropriately if the frame is too large or too small. As far as possible, adjust the frame's size so that it encloses only the specific sound you're trying to remove.

Click SONAR’s Play button .

Lower the OUTSIDE LEVEL fader.

Lower the OUTSIDE LEVEL fader.
5.
Adjust the INSIDE PAN knob to specify the pan position.
6.
As necessary, raise the OUTSIDE LEVEL fader to adjust the volume of the sound outside the frame.

Click SONAR’s Play button .
2.
Lower the INSIDE LEVEL fader.

Adjust the OUTSIDE PAN knob to specify the pan position.
6.
As necessary, raise the INSIDE LEVEL fader to adjust the volume of the sound inside the frame.
For example, a live recording sometimes contains power supply noise or the sound of an air conditioner, and sound played back from a cassette tape might contain a characteristic high-frequency hiss.

In the NOISE CANCEL section, use the TYPE control to specify the type of noise you want to remove.

Bypass. Bypasses noise cancellation (no effect is applied).

HissNoise. Removes the high-frequency hiss that is typical of analog tape.

HumNoise. Removes low-frequency noise from the audio data.

WindNoise. Removes wind noise from the audio data.

AirCon. Removes the wind noise and motor noise produced by an air conditioner.

Click SONAR’s Play button .
3.
In the NOISE CANCEL section, raise the DEPTH fader to adjust the strength of noise cancellation.

Click SONAR’s Play button .
2.
Lower the OUTSIDE LEVEL fader.
5.
Use INSIDE LEVEL and INSIDE PAN to adjust the sound inside the frame, and use OUTSIDE LEVEL and OUTSIDE PAN to adjust the sound outside the frame.

As described in To adjust the volume balance, use the frame to enclose the sound to which you want to apply an effect.

In the EFFECT section, use the TYPE control to select the desired effect:

Bypass. Bypasses the effect; no effect is applied.

Comp1. Raises the gain of the low-frequency range.

Comp2. Raises the gain of the low-frequency and high-frequency ranges.

S. Delay. This is a short delay effect. It creates a doubling effect that layers a copy of the sound on itself.

M. Delay. This is a delay effect of a typical length.

L. Delay. This is a long delay effect.

Room Rev. This is a reverb effect that simulates the reverberation of a room.

Hall Rev. This is a reverb effect that simulates the reverberation of a hall.

Plate Rev. This is a reverb effect that simulates a metal plate reverb device. It produces a distinctively bright reverberation.

Click SONAR’s Play button .
4.
Raise the EFFECT DEPTH fader to adjust the intensity of the effect.
Here's how you can apply SONAR's included effects to the sound inside the frame and the sound outside the frame. For example, you can apply reverb to the vocal inside the frame, and compression to the accompaniment outside the frame.

On SONAR’s Insert menu, click Multiple Tracks to open the Insert Multiple Tracks dialog box.
5.
As described in To remove sound of a voice or instrument, find the desired sound inside the frame.
7.
Lower the INSIDE LEVEL fader so that you hear only the sound outside the frame.
