Once you've created projects in your Cakewalk product, at some point you'll want to create a CD copy you can play in stereo. There are many different methods for arriving with a finished audio CD of your Cakewalk projects but we've created  this document to help simplify the process. follow  the steps below that apply  to your particular scenario.

Instruction for SONAR project containing audio only:
1. Select the audio data wish to be included in the wave file you're going to burn to the CD.
2. Choose File| Export Audio.
3. Name the file, Choose the RIFF Wave file format, set the bit depth to 16 and sample rate to 44100. Select a saving location, and click export.
4. Take the resulting .WAV to your CD creation software, and you're ready to burn your CD.
Instructions for SONAR project containing MIDI only, or a combination of audio and MIDI:
The procedure for exporting wave files from MIDI tracks differs depending on what you are using for a MIDI instrument.There are basically three scenarios. You may be using an external MIDI instrument, (like a keyboard) a synthesizer built on to your sound card, or a DXI (software synthesizer) like the Edirol VSC.
If you are using only DXIs For MIDI Playback, Simply follow the instruction above for exporting audio. Since these Synthesizers are software based, audio can be rendered from them and does not have to be recorded per the procedure below. just make sure that both your MIDI and DXI tracks are selected before the export.

Here's how to export audio if you're using your sound card's synth:
1. open the file your working with. Set up a new audio track with the In or Source set to Stereo.
2. Open your sound card's mixer devices. This is normally done by choosing start| Programs |Accessories|Entertainment\Volume Control. In the volume Controls, go to Options|Properties. Click on Adjust Volume For Recording, and make sure all boxes below are checked. Click Ok, and locate the slider marked MIDI, Synth, Mixed Input, or What you hear. Check the Select the select box at the bottom, then close the window. Hyperlink to windows mixer page.
3. Solo the MIDI, tracks in the file, arm the audio track, and press Record. The MIDI tracks will get recorded as audio.
4. Use File| Exporting Audio to Export the audio track(s) as a .WAV file, as outlined above.
Here's how to export audio if you're using an external MIDI instrument:
1 Using audio cables, connect the audio output of your MIDI instrument to an input or input pair on your sound card If your sound card has Multiple inputs, be mindful of which pair you choose.
2 Open the file you're working with. Set up a new audio track with the In or Source set to stereo. If you're using a sound card with multiple inputs, select the input pair used instruction #1.
3. Open your sound card's mixer device. Hyperlink to windows mixer page. This is normally done by choosing start|Programs|Accessories| Entertainment |Volume control. In the volume Controls, go to Options| Properties. Click on Adjust Volume for Recoding, and make sure all boxes below are checked. Click Ok, and locate the slider marked Line In. Check the select box at the bottom, then close the window. *note: This instruction may not be necessary if are using a pro or semi-pro sound card.
4. Arm the audio track, and press Record. The MIDI tracks will get recorded as audio.
5. Use file| Exporting audio to export the audio tracks(s) as a . WAV file, as outline above.

You've now got a WAV file ready to be burned to CD using your favorite CD creation software, such as Pyro 5.
