Winter NAMM, Anaheim, CA (January 15, 2004)—Cakewalk, developer of the world's best-selling music and sound software for Windows, announces the development of Soundstage and fx:verb plug-ins for the Roland V-Studio Platform, VS8F Plug-in Effect Expansion Board.
Roland for the first time, has opened up its successful V-Studio platform to outside plug-in developers via the VS8F Plug-In Effect Expansion Board. In this initiative, Roland is providing V-Studio users access to high-quality 3rd party plug-ins. Respected industry developers joining Cakewalk in the initial plug-in offerings for the V-Studio platform include Antares, IK Multimedia, Massenburg Labs, McDSP Sound Toys®, TC Electronics, and Universal Audio.
Cakewalk's critically acclaimed Soundstage is a professional acoustic space modeler. Its reverb engine captures the subtleties of environmental factors that affect reverberation within a physical space such as absorption, trapping, and HF damping; while its unique graphic UI allows for precise control over wall placement and height; microphone position, patterns, and separation; and "performer" positions.
The Cakewalk fx:verb first introduced in SONAR 3 Producer edition utilizes a high-quality reverb algorithm derived from the Ultrafunk Sonitus fx:verb recently acquired by Cakewalk. The fx:verb is one of the industry’s best kept secrets; well known for its ergonomic low CPU usage, intuitive graphic representations, and spacious stereo imagery.
“Roland and Cakewalk share a vision of delivering the best products for musicians, and to that end, Cakewalk has engineered our Soundstage and fx:verb for the V-Studio platform.” Commented Alex Westner, Product Manager for Cakewalk.
Last year, Roland Corporation and Cakewalk announced a strategic alliance comprised of three components: the companies would co-develop innovative desktop music products; Cakewalk products would be exclusively distributed by Roland and its subsidiary, Edirol, in select countries outside North America; and Roland made a minority investment in Cakewalk.
