Boston, MA—Cakewalk, the world's leading developer of powerful and easy to use products for music creation and recording, today announces a change in their corporate name. Effective immediately, the company will drop its previous legal name of Twelve Tone Systems, Inc. and be known as Cakewalk, Inc.
"When we started the company in 1987, we called ourselves Twelve Tone Systems, Inc., which I thought was an amusing pun," explained Cakewalk founder and CEO Greg Hendershott. "Our first product was called Cakewalk 1.0, and customers would often call and ask for 'Cakewalk.' Eventually we decided to stop correcting people and just call the company Cakewalk. And of course since then we've gone on to develop a whole line of products under various brands and trademarks such as SONAR."
After operating for a number of years as "Twelve Tone Systems, Inc. DBA Cakewalk", the company recently decided to simplify the corporate name. "Cakewalk customers can expect to see the same cutting-edge products Cakewalk has always produced," Hendershott said. "In fact, most customers won't even notice the change. It's an administrative update."
