Boston, MA, (November 30th, 2015) – Cakewalk, dedicated to powerful and thoughtfully designed software for modern musicians, announces the new “Kingston” release for SONAR Artist, Professional and Platinum versions. This is the tenth “Rolling Update” that once again reinforces Cakewalk's commitment to improving and optimizing SONAR's core functionality, while delivering new world-class technology every month to its users.
The new “Kingston” update offers dramatic speed and efficiency improvements with plug-in handling, project and template loading, track copying, projects with large track counts, and other CPU-intensive tasks. Additionally, SONAR now supports VST 3.6.5, the Channel Context Info Interface, and improves overall VST compatibility (including seamless support for mono-capable plug-ins used in mono tracks). According to the latest benchmark tests, these combined improvements have dramatically improved SONAR’s performance across the board, sometimes even up to 33-times more efficient than that of SONAR X3 on certain processes.
“Kingston” also debuts the Rapture Session virtual instrument (retail $29.95, but included free with the update). Based on the same pristine sound engine as Cakewalk’s flagship Rapture Pro, this easy-to-use synth includes a 4 GB library with 450 hand-crafted presets, advanced browser for fast searches and previews, and a stage-oriented Live Performance Control page that exposes crucial parameters for expressive, real-time control. For more sounds, Rapture Session is compatible with expansion packs for Rapture Pro, Dimension Pro, Rapture, and Cakewalk Sound Center?making it an extremely versatile, useful, and expandable synth.
The “Kingston” release also includes the “Monitorizer” FX Chain for those who mix on headphones. This helps foster mixes that “translate” well to speakers by taming a headphones’ ultra-wide stereo imaging, thus giving a more accurate representation of what a mix will sound like over speakers.
